The Toronto Blue Jays officially thanked Bo Bichette for his time with Canada’s team on Wednesday.

The deal ends Bichette’s seven-season run in Toronto, despite his earlier desire to remain with the club following its 2025 World Series appearance.

The Blue Jays shared a heartfelt message for Bichette on social media after the signing became official.

From a second-round pick in 2016, to a leader on our American League Championship team. Thank you for everything, Bo 💙

Drafted by the Blue Jays in the second round of the 2016 MLB Draft, Bichette spent his entire career in Toronto prior to the move.

Over 748 games, he posted a .294 batting average with 111 home runs and 437 RBIs, becoming one of the franchise’s key players.

Blue Jays minor league affiliates like the New Hampshire Fisher Cats and Buffalo Bisons also posted their goodbyes.

The Buffalo Bisons couldn’t even muster a thank you as they posted a shot of Bichette, Biggio and Guerrero Jr followed by a sad emoji with welled up eyes.

Several teams, including the Boston Red Sox and Philadelphia Phillies, expressed strong interest before he ultimately chose the Mets.

Bichette was a two-time All-Star and played a major role in Toronto’s recent success.

In 2025, he hit .311 with 18 home runsand 94 RBIs and followed that up with a strong postseason performance.

Despite the loss, Toronto has added morein Dylan Cease and Kazuma Okamoto and will continue to build around a core that includes Vladimir Guerrero Jr., George Springer and Alejandro Kirk as it looks ahead to the upcoming season.
