Geelong Venom star Alissa Pili has been cleared to make her long-awaited return from an ankle injury.

Geelong Venom star Alissa Pili will make her long-awaited return to the court on Saturday, after spending the past two months sidelined with an ankle injury.

Pili, who got injured in Round 1, will suit for the Venom against the UC Capitals at the AIS Arena.

“It feels really good to be able to finally be able to play again. It’s been a long process of recovering and rehabbing to get to this point, so I’m just excited to play again,” Pili said to Venom Media.

“Being on the sidelines kind of forced me to be more vocal, and be more observant of what was happening on the court.

“It definitely taught me a lot, and it wasn’t easy but I’m grateful for the way Chris [Lucas] and the team still made me feel as important and included even though I haven’t been able to be on the court.

“I’m looking forward to being able to play with a great group of women, who are talented and also play their hearts out every night.”

The Venom are currently 3-10 on the season but are two wins out of fourth spot, which is a goal for Pili, who recently played with the Los Angeles Sparks in the WNBA, and her side.

“The rest of the season is what we make of it,” she said.

“We may have had a rough season so far, but if we just come together and keep taking it day by day we can finish strong and be happy with the way we finish this season.”
