In a move rarely seen in modern music, Vince Gill has signed a lifetime record deal with MCA Records, cementing a partnership that has already spanned more than three decades — and ensuring it will continue for the rest of his career.

The announcement, made by MCA Records on October 7, marks a historic moment not only for Gill, but for country music as a whole. Lifetime recording agreements are virtually unheard of in today’s industry, making the deal a powerful statement about artistic trust, longevity, and legacy.

At 68 years old, Gill shows no signs of slowing down.

Instead, the agreement launches one of the most ambitious creative projects of his career.

A New Project: 50 Years From Home

As part of the lifetime deal, Gill will release a year-long EP series titled 50 Years From Home, delivering new music every month for the next year. Each installment will feature a blend of newly recorded songs alongside carefully selected catalog tracks that align with the theme of that release.

The series is designed to offer fans a deeper, more intimate look at Gill’s songwriting journey — one that spans five decades but continues to evolve.

The first installment, 50 Years From Home: I Gave You Everything I Had, arrives October 17, 2025, and includes Gill’s beloved classic “Go Rest High on That Mountain,” which was recently certified 2x Platinum.

Rather than revisiting the past for nostalgia’s sake, the project reframes Gill’s catalog as a living body of work — still growing, still relevant.

“The Most Creative I’ve Ever Felt”

Gill described the deal as both a homecoming and a fresh beginning.

“I’m feeling the most creative I’ve ever felt in my career these last few years,” Gill shared. “I’ve collected a treasure trove of songs, and with my friends and partners at MCA, we’ve come up with a way to release all this new music. It’s a partnership that’s lasted 36 years, and I’m grateful for it.”

That sentiment was echoed by Mike Harris, President and CEO of MCA Records, who emphasized the trust behind the decision.

“Vince has been a major part of the MCA family for decades,” Harris said. “This lifetime agreement reflects our unwavering commitment to supporting his artistic vision and providing him artistic freedom while ensuring his legacy continues to grow.”

Gill’s longtime manager, Larry Fitzgerald, who has worked with the artist for more than 40 years, called the deal a rare moment of continuity in a rapidly changing industry.

“MCA Records has been Vince’s home since early in his career,” Fitzgerald said. “Now he knows that partnership will endure into the future. Vince’s fans won’t have to look any further than MCA to find his music.”

A Career Defined by Trust — and Numbers

Over the course of his career with MCA, Gill has amassed staggering achievements:

  • 1.7 billion global streams
  • 19.4 million domestic album sales
  • 28.5 million RIAA-certified units
  • 6 Multi-Platinum albums
  • 5 Platinum albums
  • 3 Gold singles

But numbers only tell part of the story.

Gill is a 22-time Grammy Award winner, an 18-time CMA Award recipient, and a member of both the Country Music Hall of Fame (2007) and the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame (2005). He joined the Grand Ole Opry in 1991, earned a Hollywood Walk of Fame star in 2012, and received the BMI Icon Award in 2014.

More than accolades, Gill’s reputation has been built on craftsmanship, humility, and emotional honesty — qualities that have made him one of the most respected figures in American music.

A Rare Commitment to Legacy

In an era where artists often bounce between labels, release cycles are shortened, and catalogs are fragmented, Gill’s lifetime deal stands apart.

It reflects something increasingly rare: mutual loyalty.

With 50 Years From Home, Vince Gill isn’t closing a chapter — he’s extending one. The project honors where he came from while refusing to treat his legacy as something finished.

After half a century in music, Gill isn’t looking backward.

He’s still writing.
