Pickens was one of four NFC wide receivers selected to the Pro Bowl.

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens has had an impressive career in the NFL thus far. Now in his fourth season in the league, Pickens has played in 63 games, totaling 262 receptions for 4,183 yards and 21 touchdowns.

Pickens, who was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft, spent the first three years of his professional career in “The Steel City.” In May, before the 2025 season began, Pickens, along with a 2027 sixth-round pick, was traded from the Steelers to the Cowboys for a 2026 third-round pick and a 2027 fifth-rounder.

This trade has panned out wonderfully for Pickens and Dallas.

Pickens has had the best season of his career in 2025 with the Cowboys. Through the first 15 games, the 24-year-old wideout has caught 88 passes for 1,342 yards and nine touchdowns, all of which are career-highs, as he and quarterback Dak Prescott had an instant connection this year.

He is third in the NFL in receiving yards, falling behind only Jaxon Smith-Njigba of the Seattle Seahawks and Puka Nacua of the Los Angeles Rams.

On Tuesday, the NFL announced some exciting news for Pickens, as he was selected to his first-ever Pro Bowl.

Pickens joined Nacua, Smith-Njigba and Detroit Lions star Amon-Ra St. Brown as the NFC’s Pro Bowl wide receivers.

After this announcement, Pickens spoke about being selected for the first time in his career.

“Yeah super proud of myself,” he said, according to DLLS Sports’ Ali Jawad. “Super proud of guys because I wouldn’t be able to do some of it without the guys.”

Pickens will take part in the NFL Pro Bowl Games on Feb. 3 in San Francisco, California. Before that, he will finish out the regular season, as the Cowboys (6-8-1) next take on the Washington Commanders (4-11) on Christmas Day at 1 p.m. ET on Netflix.

George Pickens on first Pro Bowl nod, future with Cowboys after 2025

FRISCO, Texas – The 2025 season has been a historic one for George Pickens, who in his first year with the Cowboys has set career highs in receptions (88), receiving yards (1,342) and receiving touchdowns (9), with two games remaining to be played.

On Tuesday, Pickens’ body of work up to this point earned him his first Pro Bowl nomination, an accomplishment he won’t forget.

“Super proud of myself, super proud of the guys,” Pickens said. “I wouldn’t have been able to do some of it without the guys. We didn’t finish where we wanted to finish, but all we can do is wake up the next day and keep going.”

Pickens will also get to go to the Pro Bowl with Dak Prescott, who has played a major role in Pickens’ success in 2025 and that of the Cowboys’ offense as a whole.

“Super explosive, I feel like that’s one of the biggest things when you look back on the year even though it’s not over, just look at the explosive plays that me, him, CeeDee, Flo, Javonte, everybody produced on offense.” Pickens said.

Coming into the season, there were narratives about Pickens’ past with the Steelers and whether or not anything would transfer over to Dallas. Playing in a new city has been the fresh start that Pickens needed, and he’s looking forward to what’s next.

“Refreshing for me, as far as new year, it’s a new year coming up,” Pickens said. “When I came in this year, I was new to this team, got to know the guys, just all a new thing for me. So super refreshing as the year closes up.”

That brings up what happens after the year closes up, with Pickens in the final year of his rookie contract and becoming an unrestricted free agent following the season. Pickens said that he would worry about contract talks in the offseason.

“It definitely improves, as far as a career, it improves my career,” Pickens said of his Pro Bowl nomination. “As far as contractually wise, I can just wait until the offseason and try to finish up this season on a positive, good note.”

Given the amount of success he’s had in the Cowboys offense, does that entice Pickens to want to stay in Dallas long-term following this season?

“Definitely,” Pickens said. “Like I always said, the guys here, that’s why I always say, I feel like you cannot get that everywhere. I’ve kind of been at other places, top 30 visits when I was coming out of pre-draft, the guys here and the culture here is just a little different.”

There will be several options on the table for the Cowboys, including the franchise tag, if they want to extend Pickens, who will still be just 25 years old next season, as a part of the offense. For now though, the focus remains on beating the Commanders on Christmas Day.
